House Weesen is located on the idyllic Lake Walen. Entirely clad in larch wood, the exterior of the house is a nod to the nearby boathouses. The shape of the roof recalls the mountain peaks of the nearby Churfirsten range. This feeling extends to the inside of the building thanks to the roof-high rooms. The structure accommodates a family home and a studio apartment – 'Stöckli', in local parlance – located on the upper floor. The family resides on the ground floor, and has access to the garden. The Stöckli is accessed via a pergola-style staircase on the side of the building: every second slat in the wooden façade is left open, allowing light to enter during the day and radiate outward, lantern-like, from the house at night.
