A few structural changes and an elaborately conceived colour concept define the conversion and renovation of this apartment in a Jugendstil building in Zurich. The layout of the rooms was retained, with the only change being a widening of the passage between the dining room and living room. The corridor is the heart of the house. Finished entirely in orange, the corridor leads to every other room in the residence. In each room, one wall with a matching colour dominates the design. Connecting elements that tie all the rooms together include the extra-wide skirting boards and the door and window jambs. These are charming Jugendstil elements that have been retained. Painted in a sand tone, they form a cohesive visual unit and present an understated contrast to the white and coloured walls.
