Comissioned Study 2012
The Dreispitz region is located topographically higher than the BrЯglinger (floodplain of the lower Birs), where the transport infrastructure developed during the 19th Century strengthened the edge between both. Due to the development in Brüglingen and because of the raising Warehouse Arts District in Dreispitz, it is necessary to consider an over ground connection.
On one hand, Dreispitz has a well define urban structure with a hectic traffic, while BrЯglingens characterizes for its more natural setting where the BrЯglinger Plateau Merian Park has a distinctive English landscape that allocates a Botanical Garden. In addition, the water network has always influenced the development and use of land. Among the most representative features on this country side are the rural structures, some intentional hidden places, and a meandered path network, that reveal a variety of vegetation.
Thus, the bridge becomes the top floor of the natural topographical sequence from Dreispitz to BrЯglinger level and opens up a panoramic view of the nearby hills. Physically and visually the two worlds live together.
