Vera Hartmann studierte an der BTU Cottbus, an der ETSAB bei Enric Miralles in Barcelona sowie an der UDK Berlin. Sie arbeitete währenddessen u.a. bei Angélil Graham in Zürich und bei asymptote architecture in New York. 1999 legte sie ihre Diplomprüfung ab.
Seit 2000 ist sie bei Sauerbruch Hutton tätig. Als Projektleiterin betreut und verantwortet sie über alle Leistungsphasen Projekte mit einem Schwerpunkt im Bereich Wohnungs- und Bildungsbau. Neben dem Planen von Neubauten, zählt das Bauen im Bestand und die Innenarchitektur zu ihren Spezialgebieten. Vera Hartmann ist Partnerin seit 2020 und wurde 2023 in die Geschäftsführung gewählt.
Louisa Hutton

Louisa Hutton studied at the University of Bristol and the Architectural Association in London, following which she worked with Alison + Peter Smithson for four years.
In 1989 Louisa founded the practice together with Matthias Sauerbruch in London, which has been based in Berlin since 1993. She taught at the Architectural Association and was a visiting professor at Harvard Graduate School of Design. Louisa is a member of the Curatorial Board of the Schelling Architecture Foundation, and was a Commissioner at CABE as well as a member of the first Steering Committee for Germany’s Bundesstiftung Baukultur. She is an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. In 2014 Louisa was elected to become a Royal Academician, in 2015 she was awarded an OBE.
Matthias Sauerbruch

Matthias Sauerbruch studied at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin and the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. He worked at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture in Londonw as project manager for six years and partner for four years.
In 1989 he founded Sauerbruch Hutton together with Louisa Hutton and has been directing the office since then. Matthias has taught from 1985-1990 at the AA as a unit master. He has held tenure professorships at the TU Berlin as well as the Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart between 1995 and 2005. He was a visiting professor at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville (2006), the Harvard Graduate School of Design (2005-2009) as well as the University of the Arts in Berlin (2012-2014). Matthias is a founding member of the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für nachhaltiges Bauen), he is a member of the Urban Design Council in Munich and the board of KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin. He is an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and he is a member and currently Director of the Architecture Section of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin.
Juan Lucas Young

Juan Lucas Young graduated from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo in 1989.
He joined Sauerbruch Hutton in 1990. He has been a partner and managing director in the office since 1999 and he is responsible for the overall management of the office and all projects. Juan Lucas lectures at universities and regularly attends congresses and conferences worldwide. He is member of the board of Fairtrag e.V.
