Microliving concepts have been en vogue in cities for quite some time. But now the first apartment blocks for temporary residence are also being built in the countryside for commuters, digital nomads, singles or students. For example in Kenzingen, where the architect Christoph Schmidt and his brother Stephan have designed and built the “Jopa Joma”. The block comprises seven one-room or two-room apartments with sizes varying between 20 and 50 square metres, each with a small terrace or balcony. In just a few square metres it offers a high-quality, design-oriented and, at the same time, long-lasting home environment. In order to realise this vision, the designers from Schmidt Architekten brought in Häfele, a Nagold-based company with extensive expertise in the development of sophisticated room concepts with skilfully engineered functionality solutions. The company was involved in Jopa Jomaas a brand strategist and all-round consulting and planning partner. An interdisciplinary team of Häfele specialists realised the high-quality fit-out of the rooms with both in-house and external products – “More living per square metre” was the motto for the overall concept. This also included the carefully thought out design of the room lighting. In this project, Häfele’s extensive Loox furniture lighting system enters into a symbiotic alliance with Nimbus’s innovative room lighting. Together, concealed light sources and stylish luminaires ensure a balanced lighting atmosphere that can be adjusted to suit any situation. As part of the Häfele Group, Nimbus supplied the clear-cut, geometric Nimbus Q FOUR and Q ONE models. They fit in perfectly with the living zones and provide them with pleasant accentuating light completely free of glare. The CUBIC from Nimbus has also been deployed in the utility tones such as a bathrooms and stairwells. With its monolithic luminaire body it retreats into the background in terms of visual impact and provides a pure, harmonious light effect.
